The scientific aim of the marine survey was to collect geophysical and physical data in the territorial water of Australia. This data assists the understanding of the petroleum prospectivity, the geological setting and the environmental signifi cance of the survey area. The survey was funded by the Commonwealth Government of Australia under its 2006 Energy Security Initiative and was organised by Geoscience Australia (GA). GRAVIONIC was responsible for the marine gravity and magnetic survey as well as post-processing of the data.
